What needs medical assessment before fat freezing?

Suitability needs medical assessment. US FDA guidance identifies contraindications and cautions involving cold-sensitivity conditions, poor circulation, and hernias or weakened abdominal areas. Cold-sensitivity conditions include Raynaud’s disease and cold urticaria, among others. Read FDA’s fat-freezing precautions.

These examples are not a complete screening checklist. A qualified healthcare professional should assess your history, the proposed treatment area and the actual device instructions. US guidance does not establish Singapore device authorisation.

Does PAH resolve on its own?

Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) can cause treated fat to enlarge and harden months after treatment. FDA states that PAH does not resolve on its own and may require surgery; surgery may not fully resolve the complication. Seek medical assessment for an enlarging or firm treated area. Read FDA’s PAH explanation.

What happens during the appointment?

With vacuum-based devices, the applicator draws a fold of tissue into a cooling attachment. You may feel pulling and cold. Applicator size determines the area covered. Cleveland Clinic explains the procedure.

One appointment can contain several applicator cycles. “One session” on a quote therefore needs a count of the applicators, runs and areas included.

What result is it meant to achieve?

The aim is a smaller local fat bulge. ASPS describes changes developing over four to six months and possible repeat treatment of an area. This timeframe belongs to that source, rather than a guarantee for every machine. Read the ASPS explanation.

What risks should I understand?

Pain, bruising and swelling can occur. Freeze burns, persistent numbness and paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) are possible complications. PAH means the treated fat becomes larger and firmer. FDA risk information.

Our risk guide explains these distinctions and what to settle about follow-up before booking.

What does the quoted price cover?

Ask for the exact device model and a written count of cycles and areas. If both sides of the body are included, have that written down too. See our worked price-unit example before comparing headline prices.

At the consultation, ask it this way

“Does the quote include both sides, and how many applicator cycles will be used on each?”

Ask them to write “left / right” and the cycle count. A session count alone leaves coverage unclear.

If reception does not know the technical details, ask them to pass the question to the person responsible for the service. Arrange a professional assessment for personal risk and suitability questions.
